Truthwave House is an independent Australian music label founded by Joe Niko Jr, producer, songwriter, creative director. Our mission is simple: story and craft first, with modern tools helping the music travel farther. We champion innovative, genre-blending releases from Christian & Gospel to indie folk and piano-led pop to electronic, country, reggae and festive sounds built on authenticity, intention, and real songwriting.
Technology is our creative amplifier, not a shortcut. We combine lived experience with transparent, future-minded production workflows, including cutting-edge new tech innovations, so artists can work fast without losing heart. Truthwave House is home to distinctive projects and new voices, a place where fresh ideas become records people remember.
Founder
Truthwave House is the creative vision of Joe Niko Jr. A songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and successful artist (Takenotes) from Canberra known for both craft and innovation. Raised on gospel, reggae, R&B, pop, and hip-hop, Joe became respected for his soulful, blues-inflected piano work. With eighteen years in the industry, he mentored young creatives as in-house producer for The Booyah Group, teaching musicianship and modern production.
Returning to the scene as Dj Takenotes in 2021 , Joe became known for his instinct to play the right music at the right time, earning residencies throughout Canberra and Australia’s east coast, and exploring a wide range of genres as an open-format artist. At the height of his success in 2023, he chose to step away and reconnect with his faith, guided by the belief that “sometimes God takes you out, to unlearn and relearn so He can place you back in to change the world, within your sphere of influence for the better.” Launching Truthwave House now marks his return, a new chapter driven by purpose and the conviction that music can transform lives.
In this new season he is reigniting the dj alias under new sudonym TAKENOTES and also releasing piano originals to showcase his classical and gospel roots under Joey JR.

The fundamentals are timeless, but they bend to the vision, never the other way around. Technology shifts, formats evolve, but great art creates its own path. People panicked when TV arrived, thinking live shows would die. They freaked when CDs and records faced streaming. Even streaming itself emerged as the answer to the Limewire era. Every time, the art adapts and survives because it makes its own rules.
That's what this label stands on: creative freedom. My belief is that real artists don't follow the rulebook....they write and re-write it.
